Autumn

FIRST GENERAL MEETING + MITSUWA / ARGYLE / FREE TRIP

Within the first few weeks of the school year, we hold a very lax "meeting" where we introduce the board members and encourage everyone to sign up for our listhost. Free food is always provided!

Mitsuwa Marketplace is the largest Japanese mall in America, located in Arlington Heights, IL and full of food and other goodies. Argyle is known for its Vietnamese restaurants and bakeries - a great place to get a bowl of pho! ASU provides free transportation to students for a chance to immerse themselves in rich cultural areas such as these.

Winter

STUDY BREAK + INTERNATIONAL FOOD FESTIVAL (IFF)

We usually hold a study break either before or after IFF. Join us at a designated location, relax, and enjoy food from one of the various restaurants we tend to order from: Cedars, Shinju Sushi, Rajun Cajun, Noodles, etc.

Host to the largest annual food festival on campus, ASU brings UChicago students their very own "Taste of Chicago". The International Food Festival brings an estimated 2000+ students to Ida Noyes for a feast that celebrates cultural diversity and ethnic culinary art. 15+ RSOS are represented and entertainment from performance RSOs like Phinix top off a night of food + fun.

IFF would not run smoothly without student volunteers. Look out for a future chance to help us - volunteers get a free shirt like this one from last year!

Spring

ASIAN POP STUDY BREAK + CHICAGO IDOL AUDITIONS and FINAL PERFORMANCE

This NEW event amassed a decent turn-out during the 2011-2012 school year. Focusing on the appreciation of Asian pop (a K-pop playlist with C-pop and J-pop sprinkled in), music videos are projected onto a large screen and free food is served. Quench your appetite for both Asian music and delicious refreshments!

Every year, contestants compete for the prestigous title of Idol Champion. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three performances, as judged by a music-oriented panel of graduates/faculty members. Chicago Idol is the one and only annual singing competition on UChicago's campus, where the beauty of many voices and languages is promoted and celebrated. Keep an eye out for audition dates!
